Went to Love Music Hate Racism at Trafalgar Square yesterday. (An all day gig/rally against racism, fascism and the BNP). Was pretty great. Went last year as well, it's a really good thing, to have so many people kind of united. The speakers were good, and the bands too. Babyshambles were supposed to play, but Pete Doherty's been arrested again. Drew played though, in his place. He played Albion and it was really sad, he seemed so sad and it was all so poignant if you know what I mean. It was good to have 3000 people chanting 'Fuck the police' when we heard about Pete though. Very punk, twas.
Peter played by himself last year, that was so great. And we caught his water bottle (had to fight a bit for it though!). But this year there were good bands anyway. Metro Riots played again, who are the best thing ever. And Lethal Bizzle, ditto. There were alot of good people. A beatboxing guy which was really awesome. And the Paddingtons were good. Gods, loads of people.
Got a bit hot though, and very annoyed at some idiot in the crowd near us (yes, less with the unity then). She was firstly like, displaying her nipples, which was just disgusting. And then she asked if she could go in front of us several times, for no apparent reason- she wasn't even short or anything! And eventually she went in front of us, and she had that long hair that she didn't tie back so it was getting stuck to my hands. Okay, so it wasn't that pleasant at some points. I was also stuck beside some literally 7 year old boy, by himself! He was getting crushed, and didn't leave! What a fool! I didn't even feel sorry for him, he should not have been there.
But yeah, it was really good, and a great great cause, although as some of the speakers said- it really shouldn't even have to happen in the 21st century, racism and fascism should just have been eradicated so long ago. Photos coming soon. They'll be pretty crap though, was kind of hard to take them!
